Walk to School Week

Walk To School Week

Walk to School Week has become one of our most loved annual projects, something we’ve proudly run for several years, and this year’s “walking with wildlife” theme made it especially memorable. Children were encouraged to slow down, look around, and notice the nature on their doorstep, turning the school run into a daily moment of discovery and connection with the environment.

To support safe, active travel, we carried out bike MOTs across several primary schools, helping pupils check brakes, tyres, and chains so they could ride with confidence.

Creativity was buzzing too, with a poster competition that invited pupils to design artwork inspired by wildlife, walking, and caring for the planet. The entries were full of imagination and showed just how strongly young people connect with the natural world.

At the end of the week, every child who took part received a special badge, a small keepsake celebrating their effort and enthusiasm. After several years of running this project, it’s clear how much it inspires healthier habits, sparks curiosity, and strengthens the sense of community around our schools.
