Apple Press

The community apple press at the ACA brought Alwoodley residents together to celebrate the local harvest. Volunteers collected apples from across the area, gathering surplus fruit that might otherwise have gone to waste. Throughout the day, residents joined in to wash, chop and press the apples using traditional equipment, producing fresh juice to share. The activity created a lively, collaborative atmosphere, with families learning about seasonal produce and the value of community food projects. The event demonstrated how simple, hands‑on activities can strengthen local connections and encourage interest in community growing and sustainable food use.
